Delighted to report – in honor of Banned Books Week – that one of my novels, Slave Ship (originally under the pseudonym Eric Corder), was once banned in Australia. Back in 1971, when it was first published.

Slave Ship

The censor wrote: “This is a gruesome, horrifying and apparently semi-factual account of an American slave-ship in the slave trade of the early 19th century. It gives a detailed account of the killing, violence, flogging, torture, rape, brutality, bestiality, sadism and inhuman savagery of the traffic. Most of the book is extremely well written in a tough staccato style, obviously by a professional, and this increases the nauseating effect of the horror.”

Gotta love a guy who knows how to read a book. <smile>
